Mississippi D.A. Doug Evans, who’s tried Curtis Flowers six times for the same crime, has asked to be removed from the case. Flowers has been the subject of the podcast In The Dark and the show was referenced several times as the case moved through the courts, including The Supreme Court
In a court filing late Monday afternoon, Evans voluntarily recused himself from further prosecution of Flowers. He asked District Judge Joey Loper to assign the case to the Mississippi Attorney General’s office.
