WTOP News launches season 2 of its American Nightmare Podcast Series: Murder in a Safe Place. This season focuses on a 23-year old cold case in Washington, DC, the rape and murder of a 50-year-old nurse inside the Maryland hospital where she worked.
Throughout the podcast, veteran D.C. crime reporter and podcast host, Paul Wagner, searches for answers and clues to Sherry Crandell’s death.
Throughout the podcast, listeners will hear from Crandell’s children, former colleagues and the detective who has been in charge of this case since the beginning.
“Murder in a Safe Place is one of those stories that grips you right from the start. For 23 years, three siblings have been searching for answers to their mother’s death. We’re hopeful the release of this podcast will help bring to light new information that can aid in the investigation.”
In addition to telling a heart-wrenching story, Wagner also brings to light evidence that has never been made public before this podcast.

sherry was a sweet person I was working in the business office at the same time this happen. The business office was on the first floor. I was surprised to see this story. It funny I had dream similar to what happened to her. You had to know the hospital inside and out. A stranger would not be able to walk in off the street and go to her office. The killer knew exactly where to go.
