Wondery and NBC News will jointly produce new original narrative podcasts and build out a scaled sales offering for advertisers.
Beginning in 2020, NBC News and Wondery will jointly produce, market and distribute several new shows.
Additionally, Wondery will become the exclusive third-party ad sales representative to podcast advertisers for the combined portfolio of shows, like “The Thing About Pam,” “Bag Man,” “The Oath with Chuck Rosenberg,” “Why Is This Happening? With Chris Hayes,” ‘‘13 Alibis” and other shows, including next year’s co-productions.
NBC News and Wondery will also co-market both publishers’ content across their combined audiences of more than 15 million listeners and 80 million downloads.
Wondery CEO Hernan Lopez said he’s thrilled to be working with NBC News. “News is one of the biggest categories in the podcast space, and NBC News has amassed one of the largest podcast audiences of any news brand. Our goal is to further grow the audience, producing ground-breaking stories that will bring new and casual listeners to the podcast space.”
NBC News said it had a record-breaking month for podcasts in September - with more than 27 million downloads.
