Because CEO Marco Arment has made it easy to share clips of your show to both Twitter and Facebook. Arment created the new feature, at no cost to users, in April. We tested it out this week. It’s super easy to use, and a great way to promote your show for free.

What you have to remember, in order for this feature to work for you, is to ask your listeners to share your clips. That’s the only way this feature will help you grow your show. If you’re the only one to share clips, sure that’s good promotion, but chances are you are already preaching to your believers. If they push out clips from your show that will help you add listeners. This is a great way to market your show at no cost to you.

Of course this also means your listeners must be listening to your show on the Overcast app. And you may need to give your listeners a quick lesson on how to share the clips. And one piece of advice…keep the clips short. If you send out a 2-3 minute clip, chances are nobody will listen to the entire clip.

Also, tease the clip with some catchy text. Here’s an example from the clip we posted: “_This one is a clip from our show with Mayor Anita Cereceda. The goal is for you all to love it so much you easily share it with your friends. The clip is 30 seconds and involves moss, a hot tub and John Lallo. _
