Podcasting had more of a presence at The Radio Show in 2019 than ever before and that included a category for best podcast, for the first time ever, at the National Association of Broadcaster’s Marconi Awards.
The awards are given out for excellence in radio. Entercom Radio’s WCCO in Minneapolis took home the Marconi for its podcast “Denied Justice.”
In July of 2018, WCCO Radio’s Jordana Green created the “Denied Justice Podcast” in association with the Star Tribune’s print series on investigating rape, in order to provide a voice to the victims and law enforcement involved in those specific cases. WCCO’s “Inside the News” series used narrative storytelling to create this unique, audio-based way to deliver investigative news.
The other nominees were: “Behind the Song,” WDRV-FM, Chicago, IL “_Garage Logi_c,” Hubbard Radio, St. Paul, MN “On the Table,” NET, Lincoln, NE “What Had Happened Was,” WHIO-FM, Dayton, OH
