Podtrac measured podcasts published for the first time between December 1, 2019 and September 30, 2020 and the True Crime genre was the most popular genre with 12 of the Top 25 shows including 7 of the Top 10.
The second most popular category, Society & Culture, contributes 5 of the top 25, while News contributes 2 and Business, Fiction, Sports, Technology, TV & Film and Comedy contribute 1 each.
Wondery and iHeartRadio contributed the most Top 25 new shows with 9 and 8 respectively, capitalizing on the True Crime trend with 5 True Crime shows each.
