It all begins at 9AM this morning at The Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando with new attendee orientation. Podcast Movement Organizer Dan Franks tells PBJ he’s expecting about 3,000 people to the event which is now in its 6th year. It all started as an idea in 2014 between Franks and couple of his friends which was first funded through a Kickstarter campaign. My how things have grown.

The first Podcast Movement was held in Dallas and the venue had to be changed three times because it just kept growing. The Kickstarter goal was $10,000. That was raised in the first day. Franks says they ended up with over $30,000, 600 attendees and that first year they learned on the fly and made a lot of mistakes.

Every year attendance has grown 40-50% and Podcast Movement has become Franks’ full-time job. He says he wants attendees to walk away being excited about podcasting. “Whether they are podcasters already we want them to come out refreshed with new ideas, new contacts and new ways to build their show. If they have not started yet we want them to come out with an actionable plan. If they are on the periphery like run a network or sell ads or buy ads we want them to be more excited about the opportunities podcasting has to offer.”

There are keynote speakers and many panels going on at the same time over the three days. Speaker must submit an application and Franks and his team rifle through thousands of submissions before setting the agenda.
