12 College Students at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga made a podcast about a lynching in 1906. The series is called We Care Now: a Podcast for Ed Johnson

and was part of a UTC honors class called Storytelling Through Podcasts.

According to the University of Chatanooga blog,  Instructor Will Davis said the first week of classes began with the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol still fresh on the students’ minds, and as part of the class he told them, “If you’re a storyteller, what civic responsibilities do you have?”

They decided to work with the local Ed Johnson Project to produce their documentary series on the black man that was lynched in 1906.

Sophomore Mazze Stokes who worked on the series says, “I hope it also brings attention to other racial injustices that have happened in history and pushes people to learn more and have more of a voice in that respect,” she added.
