Rod Pyle is the host of TWiT.tv’s This Week in Space podcast, which takes a deep dive into the connected world of tech and space with experts Rod Pyle and Tariq J. Malik of Space.com.
The podcast officially launched on March 4th, 2022 and was just the beginning of something stellar. Rod explains that the podcast is “about the new space age that has arrived over the past few years. While NASA and other international space agencies have kept up space exploration for decades, it’s the rise of wealthy space entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos that have really tipped the scales.**” **
Rod Pyle is a television producer, journalist, author, and the Editor-in-Chief of Ad Astra magazine. He has authored or co-authored 19 different books and also co-developed the Apollo Leadership Experience for NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Prior to starting his current career, Rod assisted with visual effects for high-profile sci-fi projects such as the reboot of Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Tariq Malik is the Editor-in-Chief of Space.com and has been a part of the team for over two decades now. Before joining Space.com, Tariq proved his writing chops as a staff reporter for The Los Angeles Times. “I’m thrilled to have Tariq Malik as my co-host. He is really well-informed and understands all aspects of these stories – a real pro.”
When asked why they started the podcast, Rod says, “Space is incredibly hot right now. After years of routine news about the space shuttle, the space station, and Mars exploration – all great achievements – we are now seeing routine journeys into space by private companies and people like you and me. The goal of This Week in Space is to bridge the divide by giving our listeners a deeper look into space headlines with a light, humorous touch. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had as a space journalist, and Tariq and I look forward to every episode with relish!”
Whether they are discussing what’s happening with the new race to the moon, or when SpaceX will send people to Mars, This Week in Space episodes are always captivating. Each Friday, the duo’s genuine passion for space creates the perfect environment for tackling some of the most exciting topics in the sector. Some of the show’s subjects have included: Atomic Rockets, Flying Your Own Rockets, The Orbital Junkyard, and they even dive into NASA’s SLS Megarocket. “We really strive to cover the gamut of space-related stories in a way that is fun and engaging.”
