75% are now familiar with podcasting (212 million people), 55% of the population has now listened to a podcast (155 million) and for the first time over 100 million people listen to a podcast every month.
All of this new information was released Thursday during the first-ever kitchen table Infinte Dial, hosted by Tom Webster from Edison Research and John Rosso from Triton Digital. This was the 23rd year for the study. It was originally scheduled to be a New York City live event, but that was before the national lockdown. Webster and Rosso still cracked a few jokes but it was clearly a toned down presentation for very obvious reasons.
Webster and Rosso reported that all the podcasting numbers were up compared to 2019. And podcasting will most likely see another spike in listening as new coronavirus podcasts are released nearly every day for an American population starving for information about the killer disease.
