According to multiple reports Barack and Michelle Obama will not be signing a new podcast deal with Spotify. Audible and iHeartMedia are among the companies reported to be in negotiations to sign a new deal with their company Higher Ground.
Bloomberg reports, a new deal with the former President and First Lady could be worth tens of millions of dollars. Bloomberg also reports that Higher Ground apparently wants to be able to make multiple shows and release them on platforms simultaneously, which would go against Spotify’s strategy.

What the “story” doesn’t include is that Spotify essentially showed the Obama’s the door. The company was not interested in the offer made by the Obama’s production company.
