It’s a podcast with a funny name: The PodGOATs. Co-hosted by Phil Valentine of The Phil Valentine Show – afternoons on 99.7WTN in Nashville – with his son Campbell, it’s a history based society-and-culture program, that ranks consistently in Apple Podcasts’ Top 100 of history podcasts. And the big news is that it’s getting into NASCAR by sponsoring Tommy Joe Martins of the Toyota Xfinity team.
“I know this may sound rather random,” said Valentine, “but Diamond Gusset Jeans, one of our main sponsors, approached us with this opportunity and it was just too good to turn down. Somebody has to be a pioneer in podcast sponsorships in this arena. It’s fertile ground.”
The PodGOATs was “in the pit” this past Saturday, in Dover, DE, for the Allied Steel Buildings 200.
“NASCAR is surprisingly popular with my crowd,” Campbell added. “My people are pumped that we’re sponsoring Tommy Joe’s car. Our logo on that car looks sweet. I can’t wait for Saturday.”
