Why is that significant? Curtis Flowers was the focus of season two of the APM Podcast In The Dark. The case presented to the court included reporting from the podcast.
Flowers, who was on death row, has been tried for the same crime six times. Now, four of those convictions have been overturned. The Supreme Court, in a 7-2 decision, found that District Attorney Doug Evans used racial discrimination in the jury selection for Flowers’ most recent trial. Evans has tried every one of the cases against Flowers.
If Evans pursues a seventh trial against Flowers, Flowers’ legal team will have a chance to use new evidence found by APM Reports in the second season of In the Dark.
