During its Q2 earnings call on Wednesday, Spotify reported the platform now lays claim to 4.4 million podcasts total and 100 new releases in the quarter.
The total number of monthly active users engaging with podcasts grew in the double-digits compared to last year, according to the company, and they say per user podcast consumption rates also continues to rise.
Overall revenue for the company was $2.91 billion in Q2 an increase of 23% compared to the same quarter last year.
Monthly active users grew 19% compared to Q2 2021 to 433 million. Net additions of 19 million represented the company’s largest ever Q2 growth, with guidance set at 450 million in Q3.
Paid Spotify subscribers grew 14% compared to Q2 last year to 188 million, which was also 6 million above Q1 2022.
