TechCrunch is reporting that Spotify is testing a discovery feature for podcasts using their recently acquired $49.5 million purchase of Podz.
The tech site reports that a dedicated podcasts button takes listeners into a feed where they’ll see a show’s cover art while an audio clip plays. “The clip is also transcribed as you listen with the words in the clips highlighted as they’re spoken. There’s a play button to continue to listen to the show and plus “+” button to add the episode to the app’s “Your Episodes” list.”
Spotify confirmed to TechCrunch that the feature was only being tested at this time: “At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We don’t have any further news to share at this time.”
