You can’t even make podcasts overseas without the chance of being part of the global media consolidation as the Guardian reports that Sony has purchased the independent podcast company Somethin’ Else who won top honors at the British Podcast Awards 2020.
“Our new global podcast division is key to our plans for a fast-paced expansion in the market, diversifying our creative abilities and providing a home for exciting content that will benefit millions of podcast lovers around the world,” said Dennis Kooker, the president of global digital business and US sales at Sony Music Entertainment.
Somethin’ Else’s lineup includes the Audible Original Heist with Michael Caine, the official James Bond Podcast No Time to Die, and more than two dozen others.
