Slate’s podcast The Waves has returned from its year-long hiatus to continue discussing feminist issues or as June Thomas puts it in the trailer, it’s “a place to go when you need smart women to help you think through what’s going on in the world.”

The Waves isn’t planning on using the same set of hosts every week, instead, they plan on using a rotating cast of Slate’s female reporters and occasional freelancers to talk about the news that’s important to them from entertainment to business to sports, etc through the lens of feminism.

The first episode is an extension of their recent investigation into writer Blake Bailey’s time as an eighth-grade teacher that details uncomfortable encounters in class and sexual assault allegations.

Susan Matthews, Slate’s news director is the editorial lead for the show.
