Should you post content to 3rd party websites such as LinkedIn and Medium? Traci Long DeForge answers that question in her weekly feature 3 Questions With Traci?

Question: What should I be posting on LinkedIn to market my podcast? Traci: LinkedIn can be a great platform to market your podcast. One great way to repurpose your podcast content is by transcribing the episode and editing them into articles and posting them to LinkedIn. Be sure to also share your episodes on LinkedIn when new episodes are released. LinkedIn is a very powerful search engine. It has its own algorithm as all social media platforms do, so if you are using LinkedIn as your main marketing tool, I recommend doing some research and familiarizing yourself on how the algorithm works.

Question: Should I be publishing content on Medium? Traci: The reality is that some people would rather read than listen. It is always a good strategy to leverage your content on multiple platforms to reach a broader audience. Medium is a new model for digital publishing, similar to traditional blog formats and it is a perfect place to repurpose your podcast content if you do not host your own blog since you still retain the ownership of all of your content.

Question: What is the best day to publish new episodes? Traci: Research has shown that Wednesday is the most listened to day for podcasts. This doesn’t mean you should change your release date to be on a Wednesday. It simply means the majority of people are downloading and listening to podcasts on Wednesdays. Any day is a good release date as long as it fits well into your ability to release it on that day consistently. Pick your day and whether you’re releasing once a month, once a week, or every other week make sure you stick to it. Staying consistent with your release schedule is the best tactic to grow your audience over time.
