Linsey Lindberg is a small business owner in San Antonio and host of a new podcast called Emerging Texas Strong. She tells PBJ that she launched the podcast to bring together the voices of small business owners across the state of Texas, get a snapshot of 2020 and see how it’s affected small business. The podcast celebrates both the struggles and the opportunities that were available for businesses in a very strange year!
Lindberg explains what the new podcast, with one episode now out, is all about. “This is a podcast both for and focused on helping Texas’ small-business sector make it through the pandemic and recession in one piece so our people, cities, and the whole state of Texas can emerge from disruption strong and whole. Although it is focused on Texas as a case study I actually believe that the stories are universal and the podcast will be interesting to everyone in the small business community across the country. I also feel like this podcast and the heart-centered way I approach episodes will really resonate with listeners and it has the possibility of doing some real good as it allows everyone to walk-a-mile in someone else’s shoes. It’s the power of storytelling in a time of crisis and resilience.”
The format is a 30 minute non-fictional storytelling style. Lindberg starts with topics that are pertinent to the issues Texas small business owners are wrestling with and then she finds guests who have a story to tell about their situation on that topic. The goal is to find “pearls of wisdom” on each topic discussed to help the small business owner. “It won’t be a straight interview style format. I create a bouquet of voices and stories from my interviewees, creating a mosaic of business owners and experiences. I believe this is very special for a business podcast.”
