A new podcast called “How My Grandmother Won WWII” follows a granddaughter’s incredible journey to discover the truth about her Hungarian Jewish grandmother’s covert work for British Special Operations during WWII.

Enid Zentelis, whose mother and grandmother survived the Holocaust in Hungary, had recently discovered a cryptic letter from British Special Ops thanking her grandmother for her ‘highly confidential work’ during World War II.

Enid Zentelis paired up with radio producer Vicki Vergolina and the two researched and traveled together recording their surprising, often shocking findings over four years. During that time, fascists and white supremacists became a regular presence in Trump’s America.

Zentelis said: “My deep connection to my grandmother drove me to investigate, and to find out all that I could about her past. The fact that she proactively fought fascists while being hunted by Nazis, made me see the power of individual resistance and courage during really dark times. You can’t help but draw parallels to today with extreme right-wing governments installed all around the world again." Vergolina said: “I am beyond excited for this to go out in the world. It’s a beautiful, tragic and uplifting story. I’ve been so lucky to be a part of this discovery.” Zentelis and Vergolina participated in IFP Week inaugural Audio Hub market for podcasts in 2020, and are invited to bring series to Film London’s Upstream IP market in 2021, giving film and television producers an exclusive look at original content set to be developed in the UK.
