According to WARC podcast advertising spend rose by 23.8% in the United States in the first five months of 2021. Between January and May there were 3,500 brands spending $221.8 million on podcast advertising. The data is from ad intelligence and sales platform MediaRadar.
During the same period in 2020, according to the report, there were 3,000 brands that invested $179.2 million on podcast advertising. Monthly spending this year has exceeded 2020 levels for each of the first five months. There are reports that podcast advertising spending in the United States is expected to grow to over $2 billion by 2023.
