St. Louis Public Radio reports on a new podcast from PRX called Crushed that examines the legacy of the steroid era scandal that followed the 1998 baseball season when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were breaking home-run records.

Over seven episodes host Joan Nieson looks back at her life as a fan and how the rest of the public overlooked the steroids and the corruption.

“This made them a lot of money,” she said. “I don’t think there was any evidence that Major League Baseball had at the moment that Mark McGwire or Sammy Sosa or Barry Bonds, any of those guys, we’re using steroids. I don’t think they had something in their arsenal they were hiding. I think they were choosing to not find that evidence.”
