The New York Times reports that the chief editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association Dr. Howard Bauchner is resigning because of comments made by associates on Twitter and on the association’s podcast denying that racism was a factor in medicine any longer.
“I remain profoundly disappointed in myself for the lapses that led to the publishing of the tweet and podcast,” Dr. Bauchner said in a statement. “Although I did not write or even see the tweet, or create the podcast, as editor in chief, I am ultimately responsible for them.”
