Following an open letter in August from an outgoing employee complaining of lack of diversity, PRX announced that Byron Green, from the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, will serve as Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for PRX.
Green was the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Education for a number of years at St. Petersburg and co-chaired the Committee to Serve Underrepresented Students.
“I’m thrilled to join PRX and their efforts to continue to work towards DEI at such a pivotal moment,” said Green. “The last year has been incredibly tough for many, even more so in the DEI field. Even this month, as we continue to face more violence towards AAPI and Black communities, we must reaffirm our commitment to supporting those affected and continue the fight towards equity. PRX’s mission and stance inspire me and open the door to ensure not only are we moving towards our goals, but doing so transparently. Bringing my experience to this team, which is already leading the effort to tell stories and elevate voices authentically, is a dream. I can’t wait to get to work.”
