All is not as rosy in Apple Podcasts world as it may seem after the recent announcement of podcast subscriptions. With the recent iOS 14.5 update, MacRumors is reporting that many users are encountering problems with the service.
Users are reporting syncing errors, and for some “Podcasts app is now adding and downloading every unlistened episode of every followed podcast to users’ libraries.”
The new update removes the ability to add or remove individual podcasts to the library and the only way for users to remove these episodes from view is to mark them as “played” and toggling “hide played episodes” in settings.
There is a thread on Reddit about this.
Also, people like Evo Terra of Podcast Pontifications, who signed up for the new service right away, report that Apple completely removed his show from their app and directory.
