Bad news for independent podcast editors as Apple Insider reports that free open-source editing software Audacity has been called “spyware” in a new report that recommends you remove the software “ASAP” over privacy concerns that it is collecting data to hand to state regulators.
The report says data is to be stored in the European Economic Area and even more concerning it says they are “occasionally required to share your personal data with our main office in Russia and our external counsel in the USA.”
The company that purchased the software, Muse, has since denied this charge.
