Still no word on what’s going on with the podcast called Soul of Detroit that we reported on back on September 5.

Fox 2 Detroit’s M.L. Elrick hosts the show on former radio host Drew Lane’s Red Shovel Network. Management at the TV station changed earlier this month and the podcast was pulled from Lane’s network without explanation. Lane spoke about the situation yesterday on his show.

Lane said the show was doing very well in terms of downloads. “He (M.L.) built the show, they approved it, there was a long stretch of road to get the show approved. He built the podcast to a point that it’s a ranked podcast in news and politics. It’s really an achievement. And this is a guy in Detroit with only Detroit listeners. I’m taken aback by it because people work on multiple platforms these days.”

Lane has asked his listeners to e-mail the station to ask management what’s going on with the show.

Perhaps the TV station, recognizing how popular the podcast has become, is planning a way to get the show on its own platform.

Lane after being fired from his last radio job in Detroit launched the Drew and Mike podcast. His former co-host Mike Clark passed away recently, however, Lane kept the show name. Lane has since launched a network of podcasts on his Red Shovel Network. The Soul of Detroit was one of those shows. The website for the show says “on pause.”
