The Washington Post has a story about how NPR’s radio programs are being influenced by their podcasts and vice versa, and about how their radio and podcast audiences are still almost entirely different.

Increasingly NPR is finding that their podcast listening audience is more diverse than their radio audience and that is important to them.

Podcasting “helps us reach our number one goal,” NPR chief executive John Lansing said, “and that is to reach a younger, more diverse audience, and to expand NPR into parts of the American community that [have] otherwise not really found maybe so much resonance with NPR.”

Podcasts referenced in the article include Throughline, It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders, and Code Switch.
