Independent podcast producer Cloud10 and comedy production house Free 90 Media are launching a new comedy wrestling podcast called Turnbuckles.
Each week, comedians and former WWE writers Jon Rineman and Julie Harrison-Harney, along with wrestling-fan/comedian Tommy Rico, will offer fans a recap of the previous Monday’s Raw, preview Friday’s SmackDown, share stories from their years in and around the world of professional wrestling, and interview stars of old and new.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Jon, Julie, and Tommy on this show,” says Cloud10 CEO and executive producer Sim Sarna. “So much firsthand experience and natural comedic chemistry in the room make for an incredibly fun listen that we’re confident fans are going to love!”
“We’re yet to verify if any of them were actually WWE writers, but we love all the stories from their time there, true or not,” add Free 90 Media partners, Tom Brunelle and Brad Wollack. “Jon, Julie and Tommy are rabid WWE fans – then, now and forever – and their fresh and funny insiders’ take on pro wrestling is unique in podcasting… and we have listened to every podcast ever produced.”
Gearing up for a March 30th release in support of Wrestlemania, the hosts are just as excited as fans will be. “I can’t wait to talk wrestling, not sneeze, and push my chair in when the meeting’s over,” says Jon Rineman. “I promise to never call it a belt,” adds Julie Harrison-Harney.
“I’ve spent two decades performing stand-up with the biggest names in comedy on purpose and a lifetime of bumping into the biggest names in wrestling by accident,” says Tommy Rico. “After injuries and botched attempts at breaking into sports entertainment, coupled with extended time on the road playing biker bars and comedy clubs, I’m looking forward to telling jokes and weird wrestling stories on a podcast being way easier on my body.”
Sim Sarna will executive produce the podcast for Cloud10 Media, along with Tom Brunelle and Brad Wollack of Free 90 Media, and it will be available on all major podcast streaming platforms – including iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Castbox, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Stitcher – when it’s released on March 30th.
