From Slate comes this new podcast about the stories of the nine other women in the Harvard Law class of ’59—as told by them, their families, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who remembers them all.

“It’s amazing to me how distinctly I remember each of these women” -Ruth Bader Ginsburg

In 1956, Ruth Bader Ginsburg enrolled in Harvard Law School. We all know that Ginsburg would go on to become the second female justice to be confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court — but what became of the nine other women in her class? What drew them to join a class of 500-plus men to study the law, and what did they hope to do with their degrees? Introducing The Class of RBG, the first project to trace these women’s lives and tell these previously unknown stories about their time at Harvard Law School. Of those who survive, we took oral histories and turned some of those interviews, including an exclusive interview with Justice Ginsburg, into a two-episode podcast series for Amicus, hosted by Dahlia Lithwick. Of those who have passed away, we spoke to their family members in order to try to assemble a complete picture of the divergent paths of that class of 1959.
