Podcast network QCODE is launching a new fantasy podcast series, BIRDS OF EMPIRE, created by Jason Lew and starring Bianca Norwood, Jorge Diaz, Jacques Colimon and Ashley Romans.
A modern folk-epic in the vein of Game of Thrones that blends history, fantasy and myth, the eight-episode series is QCODE’s first foray into the world of immersive fantasy event storytelling. BIRDS OF EMPIRE premieres Monday, November 28.
BIRDS OF EMPIRE is set in New Dakota: 15,000 CE, thousands of years after the fall of civilization. The Earth has reclaimed the cities and glories of the modern world, reducing humankind to a prehistoric civilization. The old world is known only through myths and fables handed down through lost generations. Having barely survived, humanity has returned to a way of life more closely resembling say prehistoric civilizations of the ancient past: The Bears, The Rams, The Birds, and The Wolves. BIRDS OF EMPIRE follows four young people from these four clans as they chart the rise of the first empire of the new world. Across a multi-season arc, listeners will be able to dive deep into the history and lore of each clan and immerse themselves in the world of New Dakota in a way never before accomplished in the audio fiction space.
“As a huge fantasy fan, I always wanted to create a sprawling mythology that reflects the diversity of this country and represents the people who aren’t typically represented in the genre I love so much,” said series creator Jason Lew. “I’m so grateful for QCODE for their support on BIRDS OF EMPIRE, an ambitious series that combines Greek mythology, high fantasy, Chinese folklore, and more. I’ve been obsessing over this idea for over a decade and having the chance to bring it to life with such a talented cast is truly a dream come true.”
BIRDS OF EMPIRE is produced by QCODE and created by Jason Lew. The talented cast is led by Bianca Norwood, Jorge Diaz, Jacques Colimon, and Ashley Romans. The show marks QCODE’s entry into the world of immersive fantasy event storytelling, in partnership with the Sound Editor and Sound Designer from such films as TENET and DUNKIRK . “Book I — The Dawn Age” is an immersive world-building experience mixed in innovative spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, charting the rise of a bold new empire.
