From Vice News comes a new podcast about the deadly fight for the environment and who controls it. The Crisis Season 1 is about the murders of three Columbian coal miners working for an Alabama coal company and the decades-long scandal of bribery and corruption behind it.
Hosted by Ramon Campos Iriarte, Sayre Quevedo, and Agnes Walton, this first season looks at why an American coal company from Alabama would open up a mine in Columbia and their involvement in a civil war and how that relates to the murder of workers in the mine who were union leaders.
We’re telling complex stories from all over the world, providing a unique, 360-degree experience; we never simply parachute into a region to only capture a snapshot,” said Kate Osoborn, Vice President, VICE Audio.
The Crisis follows on the release of another Vice News podcast The Strongman that examines authoritarianism around the globe.
The full five-episode season of The Crisis plus a prologue and an epilogue are available now in Spanish and English.
