In a major move that’s been planned for months, Libsyn the podcast hosting platform, announced a partnership to bring podcasts natively to the latest Samsung Galaxy devices on the Samsung Free app. The update is available today on the following devices: Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note20, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy Note10 series.
Without a doubt, this is likely to increase podcast listening on Android which is why Libsyn President and Chief Operating Officer, Laurie Sims says, “We are excited about the relationship with Samsung and the opportunity to expand access to podcasts on Samsung Free to all of Libsyn’s 75K+ podcasters.”
They were so excited Libsyn even made a podcast episode about it on their website.
We spoke with Libsyn Vice President of Podcaster Relations Rob Walch who said one of the things he was most excited about was that this move would “grow the base” of the podcast listening audience and “wasn’t the type of thing that would just be taking from one app to another.”
100 major podcasters have signed up already at launch and podcasts by Dave Ramsey and Jeff Dunham are among the highlights of the initial offerings.
Podcasters who want to get their shows on this new platform have to fill out a short form and they’ll receive updates about when it’s available.
