L.A. On Air Fest Set For Next Month

The event will take place November 7 and 8 at KCRW’s Annenberg Performance Studio and feature storytellers, artists, and musicians “at the forefront of expanding the creative possibilities of sound, including podcast creators.”

Hosts from The Memory Palace, Song Exploder, Moonface, Strangers, and The Shadows, will be among the headliners.

This is the first time one of these events will be held on the West Coast. On Air Fest has drawn sold-out crowds to Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s Wythe Hotel since 2017. On Air Fest’s flagship East Coast event will take place March 5-8, 2020 at Wythe Hotel.

Art of the Podcast: Dispatches from the Vanguard of Audio Storytelling

Stranger than Fiction,   a conversation on the craft of telling human stories with Ben Adair (Doctor Death, Dirty John) ) and Lea Thau (Strangers)

A live performance of The Memory Palace, a multi-sensory retelling of a true moment in American history performed by sound artist and The Memory Palace creator Nate DiMeo. The performance is followed by a conversation with DiMeo and film critic Amy Nicholson on how the podcast medium takes its place in the art world.

Moonface, a theatrical performance from James Kim and the cast of the highly anticipated audio drama about a Korean American son, his mother, and the secrets they both carry.

Music and Storytelling: Artists at the Crossroads

An Ode to Sound by Kaitlin Prest, the creator of Radiotopia’s The Heart and the CBC Podcast, The Shadows

On Music. On Story. On Air. A conversation about music and storytelling featuring Hrishikesh Hirway (Song Exploder), Justin Richmond (Broken Record) and Arshia Haq (Discostan, Lost Notes) Hosted by Anne Litt, KCRW Music Director and DJ

The Art of the Crossfade, a live mixing of mediums performed by Josh Kun with musicians San Cha and Cesar Castro. This experimental conversation and performance bring to life what happens when we mix without erasing and make new ideas from points of unexpected connection.
