Lisa Woolfork, a fourth generation sewist with 25 years sewing experience, and host of the weekly Stitch Please podcast has just gone over the 110K download mark. It’s a great accomplishment for a podcast with a very specific niche.
Stitch Please explores sewing and social justice, according to Woolfork. “Like many American institutions, the needle arts has a history of erasing and silencing Black women. We are rewriting that history by amplifying the voices of Black women in sewing.”
Stitch Please podcast fosters a restorative and safe space where Black women, girls, and femmes are prioritized and encouraged to embrace their whole creative selves.
Launched in September 2019, the Stitch Please podcast had 10,000 downloads in December 2019. Now, one year later, the podcast has over 110,000 downloads with listeners from six continents and 95 countries. The show has also received grant funding from the Center from Craft and SMART CVille.
