John Schalcosky is the founder of the Odd, Mysterious and Fascinating History of Pittsburgh, which is “dedicated to exploring all of the unusual, mysterious, and forgotten history of Pittsburgh lost to time.” Now Schalcosky has joined the KDKA Radio team with a podcast in the same vein, aptly named Pittsburgh Oddcast.
Every week Schalcosky will explore the most fascinating tales from Pittsburgh’s mysterious past. In fact, he even reaches back into prehistory. In the premier episode, he journeys back in time hundreds of millions of years ago to an age filled with giant salamanders, seashells on top of mountains, ancient bugs, and mythical giants of whom our rivers take their name. Get ready to be introduced to a 250 million-year-old Trilobite straight outta Pittsburgh.
