Without much effort Apple has dominated the podcast listening space. That’s because in the early days Apple was the first company to latch on to podcasting, and for years its where everyone went to listen to a podcast.
Times are changing. As Spotify and others cut into Apple’s lead in the space, it appears the tech giant is finally taking notice.
A recent hire by Apple seems to lead some to believe that Apple will begin creating podcast content. Emily Ochsenschlager, who worked as National Geographic’s director of podcasts, is now on the Apple team. Does this mean that Apple will start funding original podcasts.
At NatGeo Ochsenschlager built out the company’s podcasting infrastucture and launched the company’s first podcast.
Could we soon see Apple shifting from a platform only player in the space to a content creator?
