iHeartMedia reported Q1 earnings Thursday with the bright spot being podcasting. Revenue in iHeart’s podcast division jumped 142% to nearly $39 million.
In the three months that ended on March 31 in 2021 versus 2020, iHeart’s podcast revenue went from $15.9 million to $38.4 million.
iHeart has 560 shows and had 257.4 million downloads and streams last month, tops on the March Podtrac chart.
Ceo Bob Pittman said on the call, “Audio is hot. Everything in audio is growing.”
