On Episode #176 of Libsyn’s The Feed podcast, Rob Walch gave an update on how downloads are coming along. Summer months are typically slower but listening is once again on the upswing.
Walch gave stats, from the Libsyn library of shows, based on episodes released in the month of July with downloads measured until the end of August. The median number of downloads was 121. The adjusted mean was 1,310, up slightly from June.
6.4% of all shows in the Libsyn library in June and July averaged about 5,000 downloads.
Walch says if you’re getting over 121 downloads after 30 days you’re doing better than half the shows. If you’re getting more than 1,000 downloads you’re doing better than 80% of the shows. If you’re getting more than 2900 downloads you’re doing better than 90% of other podcasts. And if you’re show is getting more than 30,000 downloads you’re doing better than 90% of the shows.
It’s expected August and September will see bigger downloads numbers coming out of the summer months.
