The Harvard Business Review has launched a network of business podcasts called HBR Presents. At launch there will be four shows covering business and management issues.
HBR will provide distribution, advertising sales, and audience development support to partners.
“We know there’s an appetite for even more high-quality audio programming from HBR,” said HBR editor in chief Adi Ignatius. “HBR Presents is a unique, hyper-focused network of business podcasts that will allow us to reach our audience in different ways – and connect partners and sponsors with HBR’s highly engaged listeners.”
Here are the networks four partner shows at launch. The goal is adding up to 10 podcasts annually:
- After Hours. Harvard Business School professors Youngme Moon, Mihir Desai, and Felix Oberholzer-Gee discuss and debate current events that sit at the crossroads of business and culture—from Facebook, to free trade, to the #MeToo movement.
- Cold Call. Cold Call distills Harvard Business School’s legendary case studies into podcast form. Hosted by Brian Kenny, the twice-monthly podcast features Harvard Business School faculty discussing cases they’ve written and the lessons they impart.
- Exponential View with Azeem Azhar. Azeem Azhar, curator of the Exponential View newsletter, goes deep in conversation with leading thinkers about how AI and other exponential technologies are transforming our business models, political economy, and society.
- FOMO Sapiens with Patrick McGinnis. Patrick McGinnis, creator of the term FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and author of The 10% Entrepreneur, talks to leaders about how they choose from among the many opportunities in their busy lives and find the courage to miss out on the rest.
HBR Presents was piloted in October 2018 with one podcast, After Hours, which is currently sponsored by First Republic Bank. Downloads of After Hours have grown 700% since joining the network.
The network builds on HBR’s original podcasts – HBR IdeaCast, Dear HBR:, and Women at Work – which together have more than 2 million monthly downloads. The IdeaCast, HBR’s flagship podcast featuring leading thinkers in business and management, is now in its 13th year. Dear HBR: and Women at Work launched in January 2018 and quickly gained loyal followings. These podcasts have been sponsored by premium brands such as American Express, Deloitte Digital, LinkedIn, and SAS.
