It’s something we’re seeing a lot of in the radio industry lately. Spokane radio personality Dan Roberts says he wasn’t surprised when he got laid off from KZZU-FM in late October. “With the pandemic affecting the economy the way it is, you knew there were changes coming. Advertisers aren’t spending like they were a year ago. Every business, every household, is hurting.”
Roberts said his ratings were strong when he was let go. “It just goes to show you that all bets are off when it comes to 2020.”
So, Roberts launched a daily podcast. It’s called The Daily Detour. “I’ve joined the club. I want to stay connected with my listeners… To people who are used to hearing from me 5 days a week. And now they can listen on their schedule, not mine.”
