Female Latino Listeners on The Rise

Details from Edison Research’s third annual U.S. Latino Podcast Listener Report were released yesterday by Edison Senior Director of Research Gabriel Soto and Libsyn Community Manager Elsie Escobar. The big takeaway…47% of Latino podcast listeners are now women, that’s the highest number of female listeners since the story began.

Online interviews were conducted with 2,500 U.S. Hispanic/Latino adults age 18+ in June. The data was weighted to the age/sex/country of origin of U.S. Hispanic/Latino population and The Infinite Dial 2022 podcast listening statistics. The survey was offered in English and Spanish.

This year’s study went beyond basic demos and included measures such as self-identification as part of the LGBTQ+ community and religion. Seventeen percent of Latino monthly podcast listeners identify as LGBTQ+.

Here are some of the highlights from the 2022 study: 76% of U.S. Latino monthly podcast listeners consume podcasts with video, actively watching the video, not just listening. 66% listen to video podcasts in the background. 53% of U.S. Latino podcast listeners say they prefer to hear ads in both English and Spanish. 66% of U.S. Latino monthly podcast listeners have listened to a podcast with a Latino host in the last month, up from 62% last year 29% of U.S. Latinos born outside of the U.S. have listened to a podcast in the last month, compared with Latinos who were born in the U.S., of which 37% have listened to a podcast in the last month 52% of U.S. Latino monthly podcast listeners have used a promotional or discount code mentioned in the podcast they regularly listen to.
