Slate is a website that’s always asking interesting questions (see what is a Slate Pitch), and they’ve teamed up with Arizona State University’s Interplanetary Initiative to launch a new weekly podcast called Mission: Interplanetary that asks big questions about humanity becoming an interplanetary species and the challenges that will need to be overcome.

Hosted by former astronaut and retired Airforce Colonel, Cady Coleman and Andrew Maynard, Director of Arizona State Risk Innovation Lab, Mission: Interplanetary launches today. Their guest in the first episode, Lindy Elkins-Tanton, is the co-chair of the Interplanetary Initiative who will be talking about sending a spacecraft to an asteroid with a metal core, known as 16 Psyche, and what that means for us.

In advance of the show launching, Coleman and Maynard had a conversation recorded live on YouTube on March 17 with past President of The Planetary Society, Jim Bell.
