For now podcasting remains one of the final frontiers of open and free speech. Whether you agree or disagree with masks, mandates and vaccines, if you have a podcast, you can say what you want. Of course, that doesn’t mean anyone will listen.

Plenty of people listen to Joe Rogan. He’s often referred to as the biggest podcaster on the planet. Rogan’s guests sit with him for hours and, many times, they challenge the status quo. Not everyone likes being challenged when they believe their answer is the only answer.

Now, over 250 medical professionals have written a letter calling on Spotify to start censoring Rogan’s content related to COVID, calling it misinformation.

The letter singles out an episode featuring Dr. Robert Malone (#1757). They claim the episode promotes baseless conspiracy theories and that Rogan has a history of broadcasting misinformation related to COVID.

“By allowing the propagation of false and societally harmful assertions, Spotify is enabling its hosted media to damage public trust in scientific research and sow doubt in the credibility of data-driven guidance offered by medical professionals.”

Will Spotify cave to the pressure? How long before podcasting in general becomes a target for takedowns?

If I were Spotify I would invite the Doctors to start a Podcast of their own. If I were Libsyn or Blubrry or any other hosting company I would invite the Doctors to start a Podcast, host with us and we’ll show you how. Let the FREE market sort things out, NOT CENSORSHIP.
