Christianity Today has a new podcast called The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill that looks at the rapid rise and quicker fall of the influential Christian megachurch because they believe the story is reflective of the greater problems that churches in America still have today.
In 1996 Mars Hill was founded in Seattle by Marc Driscoll, and by 2014 they’d grown into a megachurch with numerous locations, and by January 1, 2015, it was gone.
The podcast will explore how the problems the church was facing in how they treated their workers and their community because those problems were largely swept under the rug as long as church attendance continued to grow.
A 2-minute trailer and an even shorter teaser trailer are available now.
Series launches June 22nd.
