The Guardian reports on the phenomenon of celebrity podcasts, are they good? Are they bad? Are they ruining everything in podcasting? It turns out it’s a little bit of both as many celebrity podcasts are a bit navel-gazing.
The phenomenon makes sense they say as “Big names equal big audiences, and advertisers are more likely to throw cash at a podcast with an A-lister attached.”
Another trend they report on is celebrities pairing off and each pair appearing on the other’s podcast and saying nearly the same surface-level things without revealing too much.
Celebrities have also been used famously of late to narrate podcasts like Bunga Bunga instead of the traditional journalist who did the work.
Regardless, the trend is unlikely to slow down anytime soon.
