The Podcast Academy announced that comic Cameron Esposito will host its inaugural Awards for Excellence in Audio (The Ambies) on May 16 and television stars turned podcasters Hank Azaria, Whitney Cummings, Kenan Thompson, and Rainn Wilson will present.
The ceremony will stream live on YouTube and Twitch from Los Angeles, CA at 8 PM ET, with a pre-show co-hosted by iHeartRadio hosts Miles Gray and Jack O’Brien starting at 7:30 PM ET.
The Podcast Academy also announced that Teenager Therapywill receive the Audio Impact Award for making a significant, positive impact on its listeners and that Emmy-nominated actor Asante Blackk (When They See Us) will interview the recipients during the show.
Teenager Therapy is a podcast made by five teenage friends who love helping others. Their website says, “We created this podcast with a genuine passion for helping others. However, we are pretty average so don’t expect any amazing talents.”
The teens cover a wide range of topics from mental health, to sexuality and also invites special guests like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for interviews.
“We are excited to have Cameron host our first-ever Awards for Excellence in Audio ceremony. This year, the ceremony will highlight 164 nominees across 23 categories and is sponsored by Amazon Music with additional support from IMDb, PRX, Tenderfoot TV, and Wondery, while the official pre-show is sponsored by Adobe. The full list of 2021 nominees may be found here.
