Not too many people are recognized by their first name around the world. Oprah Winfrey fits into that category. When you get to be as successful as Oprah, you have a tendency to want to protect your brand. Oprah’s company is suing a podcast for infringing on that brand

Harpo Inc., which owns Oprah’s trademarks, is taking podcast hosts Kellie Carter Jackson and Leah Wright Rigueur to court over their Oprahdemics podcast.

The Hollywood Reporter has all the details reporting that Harpo is taking the hosts to court alleging that “the Oprahdemics moniker misleads consumers into thinking Oprah is involved in the show and that dilutes the power of the Oprah brand. Harpo says its an unauthorized attempt by the hosts of capitalizing on “The Oprah Effect.”

The show defines itself as “the study of the Queen of Talk.” Harpo is not looking for any money from the hosts, or trying to hinder any content.
