Every two weeks on Libsyn’s official podcast The Feed VP of Podcaster Relations Rob Walch reels off a slew of stats that outline exactly where consumers are going to listen to podcasts, which country dominates the download landscape, and on which devices people are listening. Walch hosts the show with Elsie Escobar. Here are Walch’s stats from March…

These are obviously all from the Libsyn server: 84.2% of all podcast downloads from Libsyn go directly to mobile devices. Computer downloads were 15.5% IOS to Android ratio was 4.5 to 1

Apple Podcasts/iTunes received 62.0 % of all downloads in March #2) Spotify 9.6% #3) Overcast 2.8% #4) Stitcher 2.1% #5) Castbox 1.9%

March downloads (not including Spotify) #1) U.S. 63.5% #2) Canada 5.3% #3) UK 5.1% #4) Australia 3.7% #5) Sweden 3.1%

Where did the Spotify downloads come from? #1) U.S 47.5% #2) UK 7.3% #3) Brazil 5.9% #4) Canada 5.4% #5) Germany 4.9%

Walch pointed out that the overall podcast pie is growing and is much bigger than it was even a year ago. So, while some podcast apps might see a slight decline in the percentage from March 2018, there are more overall downloads, plus Google Podcasts was not even in the game. He says, overall, nearly every company is seeing an increase in raw numbers.
